Chelsea fans were once again given a glimpse of exactly what Olivier Giroud brings to the table.
The 34-year-old was the hero on the night as Chelsea defeated Rennes with an injury-time goal. The three points ensured our qualification for the round of 16.
Having achieved the progress with two games to spare, Frank Lamaprd can now rotate his players in what is set to be a gruelling two months.
Giroud had been linked with a move away next January in order to garner more game time. Despite his age, he showed last night as to why he remains an asset.
Timo Werner had a chance to be the hero but saw his shot saved. Giroud, as he often does, jumped the highest to power a bullet header into the Rennes goal.
Whether he stays on at the club past January remains to be seen. Whatever happens, it cannot be said that he did not give his best when called upon.
We take a look at how fans reacted to the winner.
