Chelsea star Kai Havertz is reminiscent of Liverpool orchestrator Roberto Firmino

Speaking to BT Sport via Football.london (h/t The Express), former Chelsea star Joe Cole has compared Kai Havertz to Liverpool sensation Roberto Firmino.

The German ace was one of the biggest transfers of the summer as Chelsea left no stone unturned in their efforts to close the gap at the top.

While Havertz may not have flattered the fans with his performances yet, there is enough promise to indicate he will go on to succeed at the Bridge.

Chelsea signed Kai Havertz for a record deal

With a plethora of new additions, Frank Lampard is still working out his best line-up. As a versatile player capable of playing anywhere in the attack, Havertz has been tried out in different positions.

He initially played on the right wing, before moving into a more central role in the next few weeks. He has since thrived by scoring three goals and making one assist in three games.

Cole believes Lampard can unlock Havertz’s best by playing him in a role similar to what Firmino does under Jurgen Klopp.

“I see him as a Firmino-type player where he knits it together”

Roberto Firmino could provide Kai Havertz with his Chelsea blueprint for success

The Brazilian ace has redefined the role of a No.9 by becoming an orchestrator rather than a spearhead.

The blueprint to success?

It has seen him become the Premier League’s highest goal-getter and assist maker to come from Brazil. His role in the team has also helped Liverpool get the best out of their wide players in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

“He’s got spacial awareness where he can bring players into the game.”

Given that we have the likes of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech at our disposal, there is no reason why we cannot implement a similar approach.

With the pacy and clinical Timo Werner ahead of them, the Blues are not lacking in attackign quality. Havertz could very well be the glue that holds the frontline together.

Firmino is a player who is often lambasted for not scoring enough goals. However, the fact that he helps maximize the potential of those around him more than makes up for it.

In Havertz, Chelsea have the perfect player who isn’t just a potential world-beater but can also improve those around him.

It is up to Lampard now to find a system, that ensures all of his attackers are on the same page. If Cole is to be believed, Havertz will be the heart and soul of that dominating setup.
