According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Bologna and Porto are keen on signing Chelsea defender Malang Sarr on loan.
The 21-year-old joined Chelsea on a free transfer this summer after his contract at Nice expired. The youngster is seen as one for the future and is not a part of the club’s plans for this season.
The intention has always been to loan Sarr out this season. With just hours left before the window closes, both Bologna and Porto are keen to secure the young Frenchman.
Of the two clubs, Porto are certainly the ones with the higher profile. Moreover, they can offer Sarr an opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League.
A versatile defender, the 21-year-old is primarily a centre-back. He is also capable of doing a job at left-back.
Given that Alex Telles is on his way to Manchester United, Sarr can step in if needed for the Brazilian ace at the Estadio do Dragao.
The youngster came through the youth academy at Nice and eventually made his debut in 2017 at the age of just 17. He scored the winner that day to became the second-youngest player to score on his Ligue 1 debut. (h/t Daily Mail)
Sarr is yet to feature for Chelsea since joining the club. A loan move could provide him with the platform to impress and stake a claim in Frank Lampard’s plans once he returns.
A loan move would be the best move for Sarr to continue his development. He has the chance to play competitive football in either Serie A or the Primeira Liga. Both should hold him in good stead going forward.
