According to the Daily Star, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has dismissed reports that Mason Mount is unhappy with the club signing Kai Havertz.
The German ace signed for the club on a five year contract last week in a deal worth £72m.
“I saw the story about Mason Mount and I know it was absolutely fabricated from someone, particularly if it came from the German end.”
One of the best young players in Europe, Havertz arrives at Stamford Bridge with a stellar reputation. He scored 18 goals and made nine assists as Bayer Leverkusen finished fifth in the Bundesliga lasts eason.
Havertz’s arrival could limit Mount’s game time as the duo play similar positions. The source of the apparent discontentment was a report in Germany that claimed the England midfielder was unhappy.
Meanwhile, Mount enjoyed a fine breakout season under Lampard at the Bridge. He matured over the course of the campaign and is now an important first-team player.

His performances even saw him make it to Gareth Southgate’s England squad. The Chelsea star has, so far, won six caps for his country.
Lampard revealed that the claim made against Mount is fabricated and that the news holds no truth in substance. (h/t Daily Star)
The Blues boss also went on to add that players should keep improving themselves so that they can compete with the best, even if they represent the same team. (h/t Daily Star)
“If you are a young player who has a foot in and the club bring in a player who you hope raises levels, then the player should, and hopefully will raise their levels and everybody improves.”
Lampard is not the first person to rubbish these reports. Mount’s father earlier took to Twitter to respond to Christian Falk, the Head of Football at Bild with a single word-‘Bull’ accompanied by a barrage of emojis. (h/t Mirror)
The best players are those that thrive under pressure. Mount has it in him to become an excellent footballer. Hopefully the arrival of Havertz will see him push his limits and evolve.
