N’Golo Kante not keen on Inter Milan switch

According to Goal (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante is happy at Chelsea despite interest from Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old was linked with a reunion with former Blues boss Antonio Conte at the San Siro. The Italian was the manager at Chelsea when Kante joined the club in 2016.

He enjoyed a fine debut season, winning a triad of personal accolades as the Blues retained the Premier League title.

The Blues are in the midst of a squad overhaul with a number of big deals already completed. Frank Lampard’s side have already signed Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech. Younger recruits such as Malang Sarr and Xavier Mbuyamba are ones for the future.

Chelsea are closing in on a club-record £90million move for German sensation Kai Havertz. According to the report, the Blues are also set to part with a number of their players including Kante.

Kante has three years left on his current deal at the Bridge. Kante is however coming off a frustrating season that saw him suffer from injuries. The Frenchman made just 30 appearances for Chelsea last season.

While Kante is happy and settled at Chelsea, the club could accept an offer for him if their asking price of £80million is met. The amount is however beyond the reach of Inter.

A choice of options

Kante is not the only Blues star the Nerazzurri are keen on. Conte is also keeping tabs on Emerson Palmieri and Olivier Giroud. Neither of them is as important as Kante and are easier for Inter to approach.

Giroud’s contract at the club runs until next summer. As per the report, the Frenchman could still be tempted to leave given the competition with Werner and Tammy Abraham upfront.

Kante has been an excellent player for Chelsea over the years. When in form, he is arguably our best defender.

The winds of change are however blowing around Stamford Bridge. Whether Kante weathers it or not remains to be seen.
