Chelsea looking to sell N’Golo Kante claims transfer expert

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), transfer expert Ian McGarry, Chelsea are willing to offload star midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer as manager Frank Lampard looks to cut down his squad after a plethora of new signings.

The 29-year-old Frenchman arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2016 from Leicester City. He made immediate impact, playing a pivotal role in our Premier League triumph in his debut season.

N’Golo Kante has endured an injury-hit season at Chelsea

Kante followed that up with equally critical contributions as we won the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League success in the subsequent campaigns.

This past season though, the midfielder endured a difficult period with injuries hampering him. Kante featured in just 22 of our 38 Premier League games this past term, still managing to contribute with three goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)

And now, McGarry reckons that Chelsea will look to show him the exit doors, following a huge summer spending spree. (h/t Express)

“Chelsea are willing to let N’Golo Kante, a player who has been absolutely pivotal in a league-winning season for Chelsea, but they are willing to let him go.”

It has been a brilliant summer transfer window for Chelsea so far. The club has completed seven signings till date, following the arrival of Kai Havertz on Saturday. Naturally, such spending will need to be balanced with sales of some players.

Kante, on his day, is the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League. However, with Lampard looking to build a young and dynamic outfit, it might be time to move the Frenchman on.

There has been interest from Inter Milan in the 2018 World Cup winner. It will be interesting to see if Kante reunites with former Blues boss Antonio Conte.
