According to a report from RMC Sport (h/t Mirror), Chelsea already have a contract agreement in place with German sensation Kai Havertz, ahead of a potential summer move.
The 21-year-old Havertz is enjoying a spectacular 2019/20 campaign with Bayer Leverkusen. So far, in 44 appearances across all competitions, the versatile attacking midfielder has banged in 17 goals and set up 9 more.
Havertz’s exploits have seen him become the top transfer target for Chelsea in the ongoing transfer window.
Negotiations over a deal have been ongoing between the two clubs for a while now. Leverkusen value Havertz at £90m. However, both parties are hopeful of completing a deal worth £70m plus add-ons. (h/t Sky Sports)
While talks drudge on, Havertz, reportedly has his heart firmly set on a transfer to Stamford Bridge. And as per the aforementioned report, the 21-year-old has already agreed a five-year contract with the Blues, making his intentions of wanting a switch to London even clearer.
Bayer Leverkusen director Rudi Voller has insisted that the club will not be letting Havertz go until their season is done and dusted.
The German outfit are still alive in the UEFA Europa League, although their journey could come to an end on Monday night, when they play Inter Milan in the quarter-finals. Negotiations should speed up once their season culminates.
The club has shown great ambition in the transfer market, having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner from Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively.
And with Havertz’s transfer also seemingly close, exciting times lie ahead for the Chelsea fans.
