According to a report from the Northern Echo, Chelsea attacking midfielder Conor Gallagher is a man in demand in the ongoing transfer window.
The youngster is wanted by as many as eight clubs, with the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace all interested in signing him on loan for the upcoming season.
The 20-year-old Gallagher has been on the books of the club since 2008 and has progressed well through the youth ranks.
Having impressed with the Chelsea U23s in the 2018/19 campaign, he was loaned out to Championship outfit Charlton Athletic for the first half of the 2019/20 season. He spent the second half at Swansea City, where he played a key role in their playoff finish.
In total, Gallagher racked up 47 appearances across all competitions for Charlton and Swansea combined. The Englishman produced an impressive return of six goals and eleven assists.
He has been directly involved in the same number of goals as Mason Mount during his loan stint at Derby County in 2018/19 (17 – 11 goals, 6 assists).
With his loan spell at Swansea now drawing to a close, a number of clubs are lining up to sign the 20-year-old Gallagher. As per the report, Newcastle have made their interest in the youngster known, while Crystal Palace and West Ham are hopeful of landing him as well.
Recent reports have also claimed that newly-promoted club Leeds United are also in the running to sign Gallagher. In addition, there are three Bundesliga clubs eyeing a loan move for the 20-year-old as well.
Lampard has shown that he is not averse to pushing youngsters into the first-team. However, given the wealth of options in midfield, sending Gallagher out on loan for another season would be a wise move.
It, however, remains to be seen which club the young midfielder ends up joining.
