N'Golo Kante endured an injury-hit season at Chelsea last time out
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed that key midfielder N’Golo Kante is in contention to feature against FA Cup semifinals against Manchester United.
The Frenchman was taken off injured in the win against Watford. With Mateo Kovacic and Billy Gilmour also unavailable, the Blues have failed to control the midfield.
This was apparent in our loss against Sheffield United. The likes of Jorgingo looked off the pace as we succumbed to a devastating defeat.
“Yeah, he has a chance for the semi-final.”
With Kovacic and now Kante set to return, Lampard will have a better line-up ready to face Manchester United.
It has been an injury-hit season for Kante, who has spent a significant chunk of the season on the sidelines. The 29-year-old has made just 27 appearances all season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Chelsea have not had much luck against Manchester United this season. We have lost both of our Premier League games against them, while also being dumped out of the league cup.
They say bad things happen in threes and hopefully, our rough luck is done. It will prove to be the best revenge to settle scores when it really matters. With Wembley the setting, the stage does not get any better.
Chelsea still have to negotiate their Premier League tie against Norwich City before we get to the clash at Wembley.
With our top four chances back in our own hands, nothing short of three points will do. The Canaries, at the weekend, became the first team to be relegated from the Premier League this season.
They have, however, shown this season that they can turn up their game albeit inconsistently. We can ignore that at our own peril.
