As reported by the Bild (h/t Mirror), Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has claimed that Chelsea target Kai Havertz can leave the club, as long as certain conditions are met.
The 21-year-old Havertz has emerged as one of the top young footballers in Europe. The German enjoyed a brilliant 2019/20 campaign, even though his club failed to hold on to a top four finish, due to which they will not be playing in the Champions League.
In 42 matches across all competitions, Havertz produced impressive return of 16 goals and 9 assists. His ability to score and assist and slot in any position in the attacking half of the pitch has made him a top target for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
The German international is expected cost at least £75m. And Bayern’s director Voller has admitted that the prized asset can leave the club, if certain conditions are met. (h/t Mirror)
“We have an agreement – if it fits, he can go this summer. As of now, he is a player of ours. We have our ideas, we know what he can do. I personally hope that he stays one more year.”
Voller also conceded to the fact that not playing in the Champions League next season might increase the chances of Havertz leaving in the summer. (h/t Mirror)
Chelsea have already spent a combined £89m on securing the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner from Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively.
Adding Havertz to the ranks would take us to a whole new level without a doubt. With the Leverkusen chief admitting that they will be open to a sale, it now remains to be seen if the club can match their valuation for the 21-year-old.
