Rival Watch: Advantage Chelsea as Man City divert attention elsewhere

Chelsea could face a weak Manchester City side

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are set to rest some of their main stars in the Premier League clash against Chelsea.

It was confirmed by City boss Pep Guardiola who is still reeling from the injury sustained by star striker Sergio Aguero.

“It depends on physical condition, the minutes they have played. We take a look a little bit at what is going to happen, not just Chelsea.”

This will come as welcome news to Chelsea, who are keen to close the gap on 3rd-placed Leicester City. A victory will take us to within a point of the Foxes, who have drawn both their games since the restart.

Pep Guardiola to rest his stars against Chelsea

With us set to face Leicester immediately afterwards, we could very well end the month in third position. It will be welcome news given our pursuit of Champions League qualification.

City are still in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. Having suffered heartbreak in the last two seasons, they have a legitimate shot at going all the way in Europe this season.

“We can’t deny that we have one eye on Newcastle.”

Liverpool already have one hand on the title. It will take a collapse of monumental proportions for them to lose the title to City.

Chelsea will travel to Anfield later in the season

Guardiola is sure to be aware of this and appears to be focussing his energy on what is realistically achievable.

We for one are not complaining and will welcome the chance to get three points tomorrow night. You can only beat what is in front of you and if it is a weakened City team then so be it.

Chelsea also play Liverpool later in the season. Hopefully by then, our participation in next season’s UEFA Champions League is all but assured.
