Chelsea receive injury boost ahead of Aston Villa clash

The lack of transfers over the last two windows have been a tough hurdle in Frank Lampard first season at Chelsea.

The Blues boss has had to promote from within to shore up his squad. It has worked to our advantage as a number of youngsters have stepped up and made themselves count.

With the race for the top four going down to the wire, the injuries could have played a key role in our fortunes.

However, the suspension of the league has worked in our favour, with a number of stars finding the requisite time to get back to fitness.

Frank Lampard can call upon four players including Kante

According to the Daily Star, Lampard will be able to call upon four such players for the match against Aston Villa.

Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all benefitted from the layoff and are now back in contention.

Match fitness still remains to be regained, but having the option of calling upon the quartet will offer Lampard more options.

Abraham is the club’s top scorer this season, while Kante is unbreachable when on song. Add to it the guile, pace and the incisiveness of Pulisic and we have a strong line-up capable of finishing in the top four.

Frank Lampard will have to negotiate a tough run of fixtures

Loftus-Cheek remains the one who needs to be eased in more carefully given his lengthy layoff. Having spent nearly a year on the sidelines, he will need to be handled carefully.

Kante returned to action yesterday as Chelsea took on QPR in a friendly. The Blues looked up for it as we won 7-1 on the night.

The Frenchman’s absence has been a constant source of frustration for Lampard. His return will now solidify us in the middle of the park.

More Chelsea News

Chelsea have a number of tough fixtures left in the Premier League. Not only do we have to face the top three but also Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Watford and West Ham United are fighting for their lives and will be up for the task. Aston Villa took are in a similar position and will be raring to go this weekend.

Lampard now being able to call on his top scorer and star midfielder has made our predicament a tad bit easier.
