After days of waiting, Chelsea finally announced that Timo Werner has signed for the club today. However, that is not the only thing that has got Blues fans excited.
They are now convinced that Kai Havertz too is keen on joining his German compatriot at Stamford Bridge. This comes after the Bayer Leverkusen star liked social media posts announcing Werner’s arrival at the club.
The 21-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football. He scored again yesterday to bring his season’s tally to 16 goals and 8 assists in 40 appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Blues attack has been greatly bolstered by adding Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Throw Havertz into the mix and we could our own triumvirate of swashbucklers.
Valued at a mammoth £90million, the 21-year-old could become our record signing. Chelsea is keen on the player, with owner Roman Abramovich contacting him personally.
It was earlier reported that Havertz prefers a move to the La Liga. The Spanish giants are all reeling from the financial setback due to the coronavirus. It is difficult to see them being able to pay the German’s asking price.
It appears that we have benefitted from our transfer ban last summer. It ensured that the club can make use of the money to take advantage this time around.
It is not the first time that Havertz has liked something regarding Chelsea. He had earlier in the year wished Antonio Rudiger on his birthday.
Although we admit that it could just be Havertz interacting with his German teammates, this is the most fun we have had in a window in recent seasons.
We also take a look at a few tweets regarding the same below.
At the beginning of the month, Werner looked set to move elsewhere. Today he is a Chelsea player. There is no reason why Havertz cannot do the same tomorrow.
