“Dream come true”: 9-goal African ace reveals Chelsea is his dream destination

According to Goal (h/t Football.london), Nantes winger Moses Simon has revealed that a move to Chelsea would be a dream come true.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Nantes from Spanish side Levante. He has enjoyed an excellent season, having scored 9 goals and 8 assists in 30 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Simon is a fan of the Premier League and has identified Chelsea as his favourite destination. He believes the style of football will suit him well.

“It is the Blues because I think I play their kind of football and will fit in well.”

Moses Simon dreams of playing for Chelsea

A fan of former Chelsea stars John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba, Simon hopes to emulate his heroes in a Blue shirt.

“Should that happen, I’ll be so happy because that will be a dream come true for me.”

The 24-year-old moved to Europe in 2013 and spent a brief time in the famed Ajax Amsterdam youth academy.

He eventually moved to Slovakian side AS Trencin, where his quick feet and eye for a goal garnered much attention. This led to a bidding war that Belgian side Gent won.

The Nigerian international spent three seasons in Belgium, where he scored 21 goals and 18 assists in 136 appearances.

His time at Levante was one to forget. Simon managed just a solitary goal and assist before being sent on loan to Nantes. It is fair to say that he has rebuilt his reputation in Ligue 1.

Simon is Nantes’ top scorer this season

With both Pedro and Willian set to leave the club, Chelsea will need to bring in players to bridge the gaps in the squad. It is difficult to see Simon go into the first-team.

But he offers an able option off the bench. Strength in depth will be a key factor as we hope to establish ourselves as a dominant side next season.

If the move does come to fruition, Simon will be the fourth Nigerian national to don our colours.

He will follow John Obi Mikel, Celestine Babyaro and Victor Moses into the Chelsea history books.
