Chelsea prefer to sign Philippe Coutinho on loan

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are keen on taking Philippe Coutinho on loan in the summer rather than buy him outright.

The Brazilian is surplus to requirement at the Camp Nou and is currently on loan at Bayern Munich. In spite of putting up decent numbers, he has not done enough to impress the Bavarians to make his stay permanent.

Coutinho is keen to return to England where he made a name for himself at Liverpool. Arsenal and Chelsea are at the head of a queue of suitors for the midfielder.

However, the Blues are not keen to match the £70million asking price and will prefer a loan deal instead. Chelsea are interested in a loan deal where our liability will be limited to the player’s wages.

Philippe Coutinho could be on his way to Chelsea

The prospect of including Kante in a part-exchange deal was mooted in the press recently. The Frenchman expressed his happiness at Chelsea and revealed that he would not leave on his own admission.

With clubs set to experience a cash crunch following the coronavirus pandemic, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the upcoming transfer market.

Not only is there a lack of clarity over when the window will begin, but also as to how many clubs will be in a position to splash the cash.

In light of these events, it makes sense for us to pursue a loan deal. Coutinho has vast experience of playing in England and will not have to be eased into the style.

A bonafide star at Liverpool, the Brazilian’s quality is not in doubt. He will certainly add much quality to our youthful setup given his long years of experience.

Coutinho is currently on loan at Bayern Munich

He will also help offset the loss of seasoned veterans like Willian, Pedro, and Oliver Giroud. The trio are out of contract in the summer and their future is open to speculation.

The move will also be beneficial for Coutinho, who is set for a spell on the sidelines if he ends up staying at the Nou Camp.

In spite of his struggles at Barcelona, Coutinho is still one of the best players in the world. Returning to a league where he made his name could be just the opportunity he needs to restart his career.
