According to a report by The Guardian, Chelsea have prescribed a period of rest for striker Tammy Abraham. He succumbed to an ankle injury on January 21 and the report states that his ankle is currently inflamed and causing him pain.
Although he has been asked to sit out for the weekend, The Guardian claims that Frank Lampard is unsure as to when he will return.
He picked up the injury in a game against Arsenal and had to soldier on since the boss had already made three substitutions. And that appears to have aggravated his condition.
Considering how the goalscoring burden has largely rested on the 22-year-old’s shoulders, it is great to hear that the club have asked him to take rest. He certainly deserves it after leading the line on a regular basis for us.
The lack of an established striker continues to cost us dearly and at present, we are fighting tooth and nail to retain our top-four spot in the league.
Furthermore, we are competing on other fronts as well and if Abraham is out for a while, Lampard would have a headache as far as choosing a striker is concerned.
