Chelsea submit bid to land 20-year-old wonder kid from European giants

Chelsea have bid for Gedson Fernandes of Benfica

Chelsea have made an offer to Benfica for wonderkid Gedson Fernandes in the January transfer window. (h/t Sky Sports)

West Ham United were in pole position for the player’s signature but now the Blues have made an attempt to hijack the deal (h/t Sky Sports).

The offer is for an 18-month loan with an obligation to buy for £55m. The clause becomes effective provided Fernandes plays at least 50 percent of the games during his loan spell.

The 20-year-old has made 54 appearances for Benfica since making his debut in 2018. He has scored 2 goals and 2 assists during that time.

The midfielder is believed to favour a move to the Premier League and his preferred destination is London due to family reasons (h/t Sky Sports).

West Ham were considered to be in pole position to sign the player. With Chelsea entering the far, the Hammers have submitted a revised bid for the player. (h/t Sky Sports)
