Chelsea are keen to sign World Cup hero and unsurprisingly loan him out to Vitesse

According to Dutch outlet VI, Chelsea are interested in signing CSKA Moscow star Aleksandr Golovin.

Golovin, 22, has scored once and contributed with two assists in the ongoing World Cup. The midfielder helped Russia cause a massive upset against Spain in the last-16 on Sunday as the hosts progressed past the 2010 World Cup winners to reach the quarter-finals.

But should the deal between CSKA Moscow and Chelsea go through, Golovin could be in line for a shock move to Vitesse in the Eredivisie, reports VI.

Vitesse, Chelsea’s unofficial sister club, receive a lot of exciting young talents from Stamford Bridge every season. The Dutch club is currently managed by Leonid Slutsky, who handed Golovin his debut in the 2014/15 season for CSKA and guided the club to the title in 2016.

Aleksandr Golovin

With Golovin in charge of Vitesse, there are chances of Chelsea signing Golovin and sending him straight on loan to the Eredivisie next season. But that move from our club would simply be dreadful as Golovin is all ready to compete in the Premier League rather than spend time on loan.

Golovin is one of the brightest young prospects in Russia. In fact, he enjoyed a wonderful campaign with CSKA last season, scoring 7 goals and providing 6 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions. He is a highly technical player, who boasts an excellent passing range and ability.

Hence, signing a player of Golovin’s quality and loaning him out would make no sense at all.
