Chelsea target’s close friend reveals why Italian is interested in Stamford Bridge move

Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri might not yet be the Chelsea manager but a close friend of the manager has revealed why Sarri is interested in Chelsea over a number of other clubs.

Marco Brachi stated that the 59-year-old Sarri rejected moves to Russia and France because the Blues had players that suit his playing style.

While speaking to newspaper Roma (h/t The Express) Brachi also added that Sarri always wanted to work in England.

“He was wanted in Russia, but for an aesthete like him, it’s unlikely he’d have adapted to that type of football. It’s true, he is 59 years old, but money isn’t everything in life.

“Maurizio has always been fascinated by the Chelsea option, as he’d really love to work in England. Let’s be clear, it is the ideal team for his type of football.

“They’ve got players like Willian and Eden Hazard who run hard.”

Eden Hazard

The friend also added that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in Sarri but the club was not a suitable option. Brachi further added that Sarri claimed he would not be able to train players such as Adrien Rabiot, Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta, and claimed that they do not run unlike how his Napoli team played with the likes of Marek Hamsik, Jorginho and Allan, amongst others.

Hopefully, Brachi is right and if Sarri can instil his style of football, we might be able to sneak into the top-four next season.

That has to be the minimum target for any coach coming in and fortunately, we do have some of the right pieces in Willian, Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea will have to spend big in the summer and there is no doubt about that. The right players will make a huge difference for the side and the new manager.
