French reports – Chelsea will not have it easy in the race to sign £53m PSG superstar

Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani is considering his future at the club and has already alerted the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, according to reports.

The Uruguayan, who has been in sensational form once again this season, feels left out following the arrival of Neymar from Barcelona.

The French giants spent heavily in the summer of 2017 to sign both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe with a view that Cavani would be able to link up with the pair to form one of the deadliest attacking trios in the continent.

To some extent, it has worked wonders for PSG as they find themselves at the top of the table, 11-points clear of second-placed reigning champions, AS Monaco. However, personalities have clashed and following a row with Neymar over a penalty earlier this season, Cavani has apparently become frustrated at the French capital.

Le Parisien reports that the 31-year-old is currently unhappy at PSG and wants to move out in summer, with Chelsea and United interested.

The tussle with Neymar over a penalty may be long forgotten but that bitterness still remains with the Uruguay international.

Cavani is also believed to be upset with manager Unai Emery after he was substituted in the first leg of PSG’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid.

The report adds that PSG are willing to let Cavani leave the club at the end of the season only if they receive an offer of €60million (£53m).

Manchester United need another striker to provide cover and competition for Romelu Lukaku once veteran star Zlatan Ibrahimovic departs.

Chelsea, on the other hand, acquired the services of Alvaro Morata last summer from Real Madrid but seeing the Spaniard struggle with form and injuries, Antonio Conte convinced the board to splash the money in the winter transfer window to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.

Despite signing Giroud, Conte is unhappy with his options up front and could again take a dip in the transfer market. For now though, the Italian must focus on guiding our club to a top-four finish and beating Barcelona in the second-leg of Champions League round of 16 tie.
