Everton Centre-back John Stones is believed to be on the radar of Manchester City’s new manager Pep Guardiola, who is ready to match the offers of other suitors such as Chelsea and Manchester United in order to lure him to the Etihad. Chelsea pursuit of the player last season regards no rewards as Everton rejected the 4 offers made for the 22 year old English man, with the latest offer being a £37 million offer. While Manchester United too are keen on the player, they have not made any formal approach for him. Pep Guardiola has already made a marquee signing in this transfer window in Ilkay Gundogan and is assessing the defensive assets available to him so as to build a formidable unit.
The manager is not a great admirer of Nicolas Otamendi and could let him leave in order to sign Stones. Stones has developed rapidly as a player over the last couple of seasons, thus drawing attention from teams across Europe. However, he was criticised for his poor form last season and will need to work on his consistency to become one of the best defenders across Europe.
