France and Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has been in talks with Chelsea about a possible move in the summer. According to the Standard Sport, the incoming boss Antonio Conte is ready to sell Asmir Begovic who moved to Chelsea just last season but has failed to claim the no. 1 spot at Stamford Bridge.
A few weeks earlier there were serious speculation regarding the future of Thiabut Courtois as well, but that seemed to have died down for now. With Real Madrid and PSG interested in the Belgian goalkeeper however, there may be a move on the cards anytime. Nonetheless Conte is being cautious and has targeted the 31 year old Mandanda as the possible replacement for either of the keepers if any of them happen to leave.
Mandanda has won the Ligue 1 in 2010 and also has been Marseille’s no 1 for last nine seasons. Now the player is said to be looking for a new challenge, preferably in La Liga or Premier League. Who isn’t?
