Joao Mario has been heavily linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea in the recent times. Now, as per reports from A Bola, both the clubs are locked in a fierce battle for the player’s signature.

Manchester United lost Renato Sanches to Bayern Munich recently and since then, they had shifted their focus to Sporting Lisbon player Joao Mario. Chelsea were interested in the player too, and recently Mario’s agent Kia Joorabchian had met with Blues’ representatives over a possible summer move. In the meeting Chelsea are believed to have formally offered a fee of £39 million. However the player has a release clause of £46 million and reports suggest that Manchester United are willing to place a bid closer to that.

This has caused a serious competition between the Blues and the Red Devils and apparently has driven away all other clubs who were interested in the player earlier. Well, good for Chelsea as they just need to tackle one club now.
