Attacker For A Defender – Why This Swap Deal Will Be The Best Business For Chelsea This Summer

Last season was a delight for everyone related to Chelsea Football Club and this season has been a disaster of all sorts. From sacking of a much loved manager to the fall of country’s best player last term, the fans have endured a horrible season. Antonio Conte faces the toughest task of his career in rebuilding the blues and taking them to the top again quickly.

Many players have to take the blame for the showing this season and most of them have to leave the Club in the summer. One name who has been a loyal servant to the club since he arrived and is truly a stalwart but has fallen from grace like no other is Branislas Ivanovic. The Serbian has won everything that can be won and has been a fan favourite right from the start.

Ivanovic, Hazard and Matic were the pillars behind last season’s triumph but this term offers a completely conflicting story. Ivanovic has given his all but it seems it just isn’t enough at the moment. His downfall started right from the first match against Swansea when Jefferson Montero gave him a night to forget. Chelsea and him haven’t recovered from that yet this year.

Rumours have surfaced that a swap deal is being suggested between Chelsea and AS Roma for the transfers of Branislav Ivanovic and Radja Nainggolan. The Belgian defender is the perfect type of player that is needed for Conte Renaissance. It has also been speculated that Nainggolan is Conte’s no.1 target in the summer.

He brings all the elements that are missing in the blue’s midfield department. Nainggolan is a tough tackler, can play in a host of positions and can dictate the tempo of the game. He is just the kind of player that can inspire the others around him and with Fabregas, the Belgian can form a lethal partnership.

The Ivanovic- Nainggolan swap makes sense for all parties and it seems it will go through. Ivanovic though a brilliant player needs a change of terrain and Serie A can provide exactly that and Radja can prove himself in the most competitive league in the world.
