Chelsea has been abysmal this season as far as the season as a whole is considered. However, a couple of players have stood out among the sub par performances from a team of superstars. One of them John Obi Mikel.

Though not to the extent of reversing the ailing Chelsea fate, Mikel has been decently good on the pitch and just like all good deeds it is not about to be ignored. He will be offered a new contract as per the report from Metro.

Guus Hiddink is said to be quite impressed with the 29-year-old Nigerian and has asked the Chelsea board to renew his contract. The player has only one more year left on his contract and if not renewed can easily be whisked away by other clubs in the summer. Though he has played mostly bit part role all these seasons this season his performance had not dipped as compared to his teammates and this consistency is said to be appreciated.
