Chelsea Owner Wants Improvement In Scouting? Manager Policies Should Change First!

With most things in life, if there’s a minor problem then it becomes useless. You forget your password to your phone, it becomes useless. You forget an ingredient in a meal, it won’t taste as nice. For something to run smoothly, every part of it has be functioning properly.

You’re probably wondering what I’m on about, I wouldn’t be surprised as I often confuse myself, but what I’m trying to get at is the fact that Roman Abramovich is attempting to improve the club’s scouting system, however, Jose Mourinho is notorious for not giving young stars the game time they require to develop. The Mirror have reported that the Russian billionaire is not happy with Chelsea missing out on some big stars and blames the scouting system for it.

Piet de Visser, Abramovich’s personal scout, stated ‘“I am still sick we never got the best young midfielders out of France. France is producing wonderful players.

“Their midfielders are real gems. I tried so hard to recruit Yohan
Cabaye, Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi. We did not succeed. I have known
those players from when they were young boys’.

Abramovich can hire the best scouts in Europe to find young stars, but if Jose Mourinho doesn’t change his policies regarding the youth, then the whole re-invention will become meaningless. I understand that you have to play your best players to win trophies, but there’s nothing wrong with bringing a young player on when you’ve already got the game won.

Nathan Ake and Tomas Kalas could have been given so much more game time than they received. When you look at the players out on loan, I can see Mourinho using about two of them and one played in the Champions League final. The rest you can see going out on loan again or sold. But, I can count a few players that could have good careers at Chelsea if they are given a chance. Thorgan Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Lucas Piazon, Patrick Bamford and Christian Atsu to name a few.

So you can change the scouting system all you want, but Mourinho needs to change his policies first otherwise it won’t be as effective.
