Why Juventus Forward Could Be The Perfect Addition at Stamford Bridge

When you flick through the Chelsea attacking options it’s reminiscent of a pack of shiny football stickers that you collected as a child. The likes of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Willian, Oscar and Andre Schurrle are all involved in the first team, as well as Kevin de Bruyne.

They also have some solid options in the deeper roles. Ramires, Jon Obi Mikel and Michael Essien are all at Mourinho’s disposal, while Frank Lampard has also become a more reserved player this season.

However, that hasn’t stopped the Express reporting that the Blues’ are after another midfielder, this time in the shape of Juventus star Paul Pogba. The rag suggests that the Turin side are demanding upwards of £40 million for the powerhouse, which seems a lot considering that they picked him up for free when Manchester United let him go.

However, you get what you pay for, and I, as a life-long Chelsea fan, would love to see him at the Bridge.

His energetic displays at Juve have sparked debate in my mind previous as to whether he would be the perfect companion for Ramires in the middle. And the conclusion I came to was yes, yes he would. Here’s why.

As well as the athleticism that the 20-year-old offers, he also has incredible technique. The Frenchman has completed 80% of his passes this term and sculpted 13 chances, as well as scoring a beautiful goal against Torino.

He has the awareness, the agility and the determination to push Frank Lampard out of the side, as the flexibility of himself and Ramires would unleash the Brazilian from his defensive shackles, which also allows the more creative outlets to be more adventurous.

Then, when playing alongside Super Frank, he can sit and do what he does best – destroying opponent attacks and releasing the ball to the inventive hubs ahead of him.

It’s win-win, in my eyes, and the Special One should be splashing out if there is interest on the other side.
