A look at how loaned out Chelsea man can improve his game

Romelu Lukaku has taken the Premier League by storm since the start of last season. The giant Belgian striker grabbed 17 topflight goals last term during his stint on loan at West Brom and was expected to be the focal point of Chelsea’s attack this time round. However, Jose Mourinho came into the frame and send him back out on loan, this time to Everton, where Lukaku has already hit four goals in three games.

But while the 20-year-old sets the league alight with his dynamic performances, which parts of his game does he need to work on?

The first thing that stands out is his passing. You can argue that a target man’s technique in the pass doesn’t matter, but when your pass completion is only better than your goalkeeper’s, you know you have a problem.

Holding onto the ball is essential to how the spearhead of an attack plays his game, and if you’re giving it away needlessly then it sparks frustration.

Which brings us onto our next point – his duel success. He hasn’t attempted a single tackle, surprisingly won just 4/13 of his headers and completed just 8/17 of his attempted take ons – all of which he will need to improve on if he is to become the next Didier Drogba.
