The powerful Belgian is currently on loan with West Bromwich Albion for the season having signed for the Blues 18 months ago. However, after initially failing to make an impact, his time at Hawthorns has seen fans finally bear witness the full potential of the teenage startlet.
The 19-year-old has made an impressive impact for the Baggies this year, netting five in all competitions as West Brom continue to impress under Steve Clarke. It led to suggestions that Chelsea may look to recall Lukaku back from his loan in January, such is the clubs current striking predicament.
Nevertheless, it appears as though the West London giants have opted against bringing the former Anderlecht startlet back to Stamford Bridge, with Rafael Benitez thought to be keen on persisting with the misfiring Fernando Torres.
It’s good news for both West Brom and Lukaku. The former will be able to keep a striker that has performed admirably for them this season, while the latter will continue to develop into the striker he is being touted to become, which can only benefit Chelsea in the long run. To put it short, everybody is a winner in the deal.
