Chelsea are believed to be close to signing Chilean defender Igor Lichnovsky from Universidad de Chile.
The reports linking the 17-year-old to a move to Stamford Bridge has come from their South American scout Jorge Alvial.
The teenage sensation has been at Universidad since he was only ten years old, whilst he is yet to break into Universidad’s first team but has played for the Chilean Under 17 national side.
After watching Lichnovsky, the Chelsea scout admitted to be impressed with the defender. Alvial told Chilean website, La Tercera: “Igor is a very good player. I have been following him for some time and he is in the mind for Chelsea.”
The Blues have already signed Lucas Piazon, but he cannot link up with the club until he is 18 – This would be the same with Lichnovsky should he sign for Chelsea.
