The latest midfielder linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Liverpool’s 2011 PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, Raul Meireles.
Despite impressing last season, the player has been linked with a transfer away from Liverpool all summer, and the rumours have intensified after he was left out of Saturday’s starting XI against Sunderland.
With the Blues struggling to sign Luka Modric, the Portuguese international could be seen as a different option for Andre Villas-Boas.
AVB is well aware of Meireles’s talents from his time at Porto, the big question is whether Liverpool will want to sell one of their players to Chelsea or any of their top four rivals, especially as they are desperate to get back there themselves.
