Chelsea are a huge club, one that has had a lot of success over recent years. This has been largely down to Roman Abramovich’s investment, the Russian billionaire has pumped a lot of money into the club. His most recent investments saw him bring Fernando Torres and David Luiz to the Blues, with the former costing £50 million.
Since the arrival of the Mr Abramovich, Chelsea have won an impressive three domestic league and cup titles including an excellent double last season.
The one dream that they still chase is the Champions League, having come close in Russia in 2008 and then this season they got to the semi-final only for Sir Alex’s Manchester United to stop them both times meaning the hunt is still on.
Before Roman, there was Ron Bates, a man who also had a passion for Chelsea. He invested a lot of money and even saved the club from bankruptcy in he 1980s. His era saw him bring players to the club like Gianfranco Zola, Gianluca Vialli and Ruud Gullit, all of whom became Chelsea legends.
During Bates’ ownership, there were no league titles but there were successful times which saw the club win two FA Cups and a League Cup as well as breaking-in the top four.
The only other top flight title came under the leadership of Ted Drake in 1954-55, having had to wait 50 years for their next title Chelsea fans are hungry for more success.
After a disappointing season, the summer is likely to be an interesting one, the future is going to be a positive and we will be here to provide all the information on the low down on what’s happening at Stamford Bridge.
Be lucky … Keep smiling
