The Brazilian was signed from AS Roma back in 2013 for over £30m and has established himself in the squad. He partnered Thiago Silva in the backline and held a strong partnership until the veteran’s exit in 2020.

The defender’s contract at PSG that only expires in the year 2024. He admits that there is no intention to leave Paris as he loves the club and has a certain commitment towards them.

Marquinhos admits that PSG has faith in him and were not even debating Chelsea’s interest in him. While he believes it is an honour for other clubs to be interested in him, his future lies in Paris.

No! It wasn’t even an offer. In fact, the club blocked talks straight away. It shows the faith they have in me. It is an honour for a club like PSG to put such faith in me. The fact that others are interested in me means I am doing well.”

The 27-year-old was linked to a move to the Blues in the summer where he would have joined his former teammate Silva and former manager Thomas Tuchel. However, he addressed the speculation by saying that nothing happened in the first place.

“It gives me the motivation to go on, boost my training sessions and play even better. Paris and PSG are the only things on my mind.”

A centre-back seems like a priority at the moment after Chelsea failed to sign Jules Kounde in the summer. Not only were they hit with the departure of Kurt Zouma, but current defenders like Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen will be free agents next summer.

But Marquinhos will not be an option as his words make it clear regarding his intention to stay on at PSG.
